Asia Argento was raised in Rome by a film maker and actor family. The two professions she chose to pursue were herself. Asia started directing short films in 1994. She made two: Prospettive in 1996. She directed a document about her father; and Abel/Asia in 1998, about the famous film director Abel Ferrara. This latter was recognized by the Rome Film Festival. Asia's feature-length debut was Scarlet Diva (2000) in 1999. She also was the lead actor as well as wrote the screenplay. It came out on the 20th of May the 20th of May, 2000 in Italy and the rest of world. The film was released on Brooklyn, New York it received an award from the Williamsburg film festival. Anna Lou, her first child, was born in the year 2001. She has directed numerous music videos. In 2002, she starred as Jean-Marc Barr's co-star in The Red Siren (Olivier Megaton) as well as Vin Diesel was the star in Rob Cohen's thriller The Action. Asia has also written some short stories which have been published by many magazines.
